How to decorate the walls on the loggia? This question is asked by many apartment owners who want to make every square meter comfortable and attractive. First of all, they think about how to decorate the walls of the loggia, which barrage to perform. These questions are covered in detail by the proposed article.

Features of the wall cladding of the loggia

Tip: Before carrying out repair work in the loggia, you must clearly imagine what the final result should be.

The choice of material for finishing the loggia or balcony depends on the type of glazing, which can be:

  • Warm.
  • Cold.

With a cold finish, the space is protected from dust, wind, drafts and precipitation.

In this case:

  • It is assumed the presence of a frame glazed in one glass. Most often, an aluminum frame with a rubber seal under the glass is selected.
  • The internal space of the loggia from the external is isolated with one layer of finishing material, without using insulation.
  • Profiles of this type help to keep the temperature difference between the street and the loggia in the range of 5 - 10 ° С. For example: at a temperature outside (-20 ° С), then the temperature inside the loggia will be (-15 ° С) - (-10 ° С).

Tip: When choosing a cold glazed loggia, it must be borne in mind that the finishing materials will be exposed to significant temperature extremes.

In cold finishes, the use of such common finishes as:

  • PVC panels, with a width of more than twenty-five centimeters. This is due to the fact that wall PVC panels can absorb moisture from the environment, which will lead to the loss of their original appearance, properties, technical characteristics of the material and lead to deformation of the entire structure.
  • Drywall. It is not intended for rooms with a low level of thermal insulation. With large temperature extremes and high humidity on the loggia, drywall constructions will begin to deform strongly, losing their existing margin of safety and worsening their appearance.
  • Wallpaper. After their sticker on the loggia, the material may swell, lose their original appearance.

Tip: The interior decoration of the walls of the loggia should be done with materials that can withstand temperature fluctuations and a high percentage of humidity.

Before laying a wall on the loggia with a cold finish, a suitable material is selected.

It could be:

  • Polyvinyl chloride lining. This material:
  1. it is used at significant temperature differences;
  2. easy to care;
  3. does not emit a harmful smell;
  4. has a long service life.
  • Wooden lining. Differs from polyvinyl chloride:
  1. it has a higher price;
  2. requires constant care to maintain a presentable appearance.

With a warm finish of the loggia, it is assumed:

  • The presence of high-quality wall insulation.
  • The use of two-layer frame glazing.
  • Installation from the outside of the loggia of waterproofing materials.

After warming, the room becomes protected from temperature extremes, precipitation, drafts and wind. In such a room, the temperature will always be positive even in winter. This allows the design of the walls of the loggias to perform many materials.

It can be:

  • Drywall. Sheets of material are mounted quickly, there is no dirt when performing work, and at the end the surface is perfectly flat.
  • Panels, plastic or vinyl. Differ in low cost, moisture resistance, easy installation.
  • Siding.The material looks spectacular, does not burn, is frost-resistant, not afraid of dampness.
  • MDF panels (see Decorating a balcony with MDF panels is not a bad way to ennoble a room) In the manufacture of glued veneer, varnished or covered with a laminating film, which gives the coating any color or simulates the surface of natural materials.
  • Lining (see Lining the balcony with lining: installation instructions) The interior created with its help is distinguished by nobleness and sophistication, as in the photo.

  • Decorative rock. For a covering of the warmed loggia it is faultless material. The only drawback is the high cost.
  • Sandwich panels (see Sandwich Panel Slope Finishing: Team Leader Tips) When performing them from a tree, all elements must be impregnated with an antiseptic. For the manufacture of the carcass, the profiles used are the same as for gypsum plasterboard structures.
  • Cork. The material has absolute biological stability, does not pick up dust, which allows you to create the presence of static electricity. In addition, the material has sound and heat insulation properties and many other characteristics.

The better it is to insulate the wall on the loggia, each owner chooses for himself, given its type of glazing, location in relation to the side of the world.

How to finish the loggia

Loggia decoration should be performed in any case.

Here you can:

  • Dry clothes.
  • Store various accessories.
  • Design a space for relaxation.

When using any material, the sequence of work differs slightly.

Instructions for covering the loggia:

  • A frame is mounted around the perimeter of the loggia, which is necessary for installing windows and fixing materials for internal and external cladding. Fasteners are installed in increments that depend on the type of glazing system, the selected materials for insulation and finish.
  • Exterior walls are finished with their own hands with high-quality sheet materials, which can be:
  1. galvanized sheets;
  2. moisture resistant plywood;
  3. siding.

  • Parapet racks are strengthened.
  • The top of the fence is reinforced.
  • The rails are mounted on a metal fence.
  • The siding is connected to the wall using the end J profile.
  • The start profile is set.
  • The loggia is sheathed with siding.
  • Mounting support structure.
  • A wooden beam is impregnated with an antiseptic and shielded with foamed penofol.
  • The loggia is glazed. The system can be from:
  1. plastic;
  2. aluminum;
  3. tree.

Tip: The most budget option is to install plastic bags for glazing the loggia. They should be taken two-chamber, providing better protection against cold, dust and noise.

  • The inner lining is made according to the standard scheme.
  1. the elements of the frame are fixed to the walls of wooden battens or a metal profile;
  2. mounted plastic film or any suitable material for waterproofing;
  3. glued on "liquid nails" plates of foam or mineral wool;
  4. vapor barrier material is attached;
  5. on the lower crate, rails are fixed for fixing the finish coating;
  6. Mounted selected finishing material.

Features of combining a loggia with a room

Before breaking the wall into a loggia, you need to carefully weigh all the advantages and disadvantages of combining rooms. Expanding the living area using non-residential premises is certainly a plus, but there are some nuances.

Reconstruction benefits:

  • Living space is increasing, which is especially important for one and two bedroom apartments.
  • When selling, the cost of the apartment will be more, provided that the redevelopment was legal and agreed with all services.
  • The installation of large balcony windows increases the additional natural light.
  • Large selection of design ideas.

The disadvantages of the process:

  • Registration of all papers often takes a lot of time and requires a lot of money.
  • After the wall of the loggia breaks, it is not always possible to completely remove the sills, side walls and window sill. The result is not one large room, but an extra small one.
  • When warming a loggia and dismantling all walls and windows, special skills or the work of a construction team are required.

Combining the loggia with the room is possible only after all preparatory operations have been completed.

Before reconstruction, you need:

  • Make a loggia glazing. To maintain heat, it is better to leave only one opening sash.
  • Fully insulate the ceiling, walls and floor.
  • Calculate additional heating: when planning the transfer of the radiator to the loggia, you can mount a mounted convector under the window, purchase oil radiators or mount an electric heated floor.

The glazing and decoration of the loggia with insulation allow you to turn it into an additional full room where you can place a terrace for tea parties, an office for work or a winter garden.
