Finishing window slopes with stucco

If the house is very old, then it can have only adobe walls and, as a rule, there is considerable damage when replacing window blocks. This is due to the fact that adobe bricks can begin to deform over time and voids form in them. They will have to be eliminated.

How to finish the slopes with such a replacement of windows

Plaster or plastic? You can immediately say that these two materials for finishing work differ in their structure and properties.

Plaster:

  • The material has been used for a long time for such work. It has excellent characteristics.

Tip. Since the house is adobe and the walls of such a structure breathe, it is best to use plaster, which has similar properties.

  • Initially, the first layer of the stucco mixture (starting), which has large grains, is applied to the surface of the slope. With its help the surface is leveled. It is also worth using special metal corners for even slopes.
  • After the start, a finish is applied, which has a fine-cut structure, each layer is treated with sandpaper.

Tip. The number of layers of the start and finish layers depends on surface defects. Just take into account that each of them should not be too thick. Otherwise, the entire finish may move away from the surface over time.

Then the plaster can be painted in the required shade or a layer of decorative plaster is applied on top of it. There is plaster interspersed with threads or other elements.

Plastic

When choosing such a material, it is worth considering that plastic is a fairly hermetic material and if the adobe house breathes and does not heat up in the cold, then moisture will collect under the finish. It will not come to the surface of the plastic, but may eventually begin to destroy the structure of the building material.

About plastic:

  • Plastic is very practical and can be used on slopes on any surface. It does not absorb moisture and is very easy to clean. About the term of its operation, we can say that it ends when the plastic plate is deformed. And so the material can last a very long time.
  • In appearance it has a large assortment, and creating the original design of the slopes will not be difficult.

Tip. Plastic can only be mounted on a special crate and to finish the slopes it is not necessary to make it too high. This can conceal the space of the window opening itself.

  • So that moisture does not accumulate under this type of finish, preparatory work should be done before installation on the slope. They are in isolation. To do this, use lightweight materials such as polystyrene or small-thickness polyurethane foam. They are cut and inserted into the crate.
  • You can choose a plastic whose width will correspond to the width of the slope. Thus, it is possible to save money and time for decoration.

Installation of such material is quite simple. It uses a starting strip, which is attached at the bottom and top of the slope and plastic strips or panels are inserted into it. Special locks, which are located at their end, act as a fastening element.
