American-style: a practical classic for romantics

Rybnikov Alexey

“American classics” is a stylistic trend that is popular in the USA and Canada, which allows using elements of classicism in the interior of a modern house or apartment. This is a practical and, at the same time, quite spectacular style, in which the design of the walls plays a particularly important role. With its help, you can emphasize the advantages of a spacious cottage or visually increase the space of a compact urban dwelling. If you like a balanced interior, calm colors and elegant decor, American classics are what you need.

The essence of style

Aesthetics should always be selected for real estate, and American classics are no exception. Although it is very versatile, it’s better to have the windows symmetrically located in the rooms that you intend to design, or if this is the only window, in the center of the wall. In addition, ideally, the doorway should divide the wall in half. And finally, it is better that the room is quadrangular. Everything else is not so important: American classics will look equally good in a narrow corridor, in a spacious living room, in apartments with high ceilings, and where the ceiling is within reach.

But it is important to adhere to three basic principles.

  • Symmetry throughout: in American classics, as in strict classicism, paired furnishings and decor elements predominate. This applies to furniture, and to fixtures, and to the design of various surfaces, from floor to ceiling. Of course, the chairs should stand against each other, framing the dining table, in the bedroom the sconces should be placed on both sides of the bed, and the chandelier in the living room should be hung in the center of the ceiling. The carpet on the floor should also occupy a place in the center, and the mirrors should divide the walls into equal parts.
  • In focus - wall decoration: to maintain the style, visually improve the proportions of the rooms and create a special atmosphere, use architectural decor: wide skirting boards, wall panels, molding frames and ceiling cornices - together or separately. In color, these elements may coincide with the primary color of the wallpaper or painted wall. Those who like more contrasting solutions are encouraged to actively use white.

Principles

Today, instead of environmentally friendly, but heavy and often uneven natural wood, designers and property owners often use LDF. It is a lightweight material with perfect geometry, a complete analogue of wood. For the interior in the style of "American classics" profiles and panels made of this material from the company Ultrawood, which are primed in the factory, are perfect. They can be painted with any paint on wood, tinted or white and mounted on any surface, emphasizing the peculiar nature of the interior - slightly solemn and, at the same time, practical.

It is impossible to imagine American classics without a fireplace. It does not have to be luxurious: a concrete portal, lined with ceramic tiles, better white, is quite suitable. Therefore, in the city living room, where it is rarely possible to equip a real fireplace, you will have to worry in advance about the electric fireplace with an LED screen that perfectly simulates the flame. To design a portal, you can use LDraw Ultrawood profiles: quickly, aesthetically and inexpensively. And, again, the fireplace itself, in any case, is better located in the center of the wall, and all kinds of accessories, from the stumps to the candelabra, in symmetrical pairs.

American classics - the best solution for those who value tradition and love comfort.
