How can I get an elevator

All rooms have their own functionality. Also, their decoration should be performed accordingly.
Finishing elevator cabins can be done with any material. But the big role in choosing it is played by the functions and type of the elevator itself.

Types of elevators

At the moment, all elevators can be:

  • Passenger standard or luxury class.
  • Freight.

Accordingly, the interior decoration of the elevator must meet its purpose.

Finishing passenger elevators

This type of elevator can be of different sizes. Fireplaces of the passenger elevator are considered standard, the size of which is 80x80 cm, 90x90 cm, 100x100 cm.
The types of finishing work in such elevators are not very diverse.
They use:

For luxury elevators:

  • Drapery walls.
  • Wooden lining.
  • Wood panels and so on.
  • Natural or artificial stone may also be used.

Tip. When choosing a finishing material for an elevator, it is necessary to evaluate its practicality and durability.

Plastic panels or lining in the decoration of elevator cabins

The interior of the elevator with plastic is not carried out too often. This type of decoration is mainly used in cottage buildings.
Plastic can be in panels or in the form of lining. And that and that type of material is similar in its properties and characteristics.
Plastic:

  • Moisture-resistant, which makes it possible to clean it with a damp rag in case of contamination. And such a phenomenon in elevators is quite common.
  • Practical, because in case of breakage or deformation of any finishing element, it can be easily replaced.
  • It has a very easy installation, which can be performed even by a specialist in this field.
  • Frost-resistant and able to withstand low temperatures in winter.
  • Wear-resistant, since for at least 10 years it is able to maintain its original appearance, despite the number of effects on its surface of detergents.
  • Durable If the plastic trim is properly used, then it will serve more than one five-year period.

Note. The surface of the plastic can be of a different shade. There are also a very large number of imitations in the form of brickwork or natural stone.

By quality, the surface is divided into:

  • Glossy.
  • Matte.

Features:

  • Glossy plastic is less resistant to mechanical and physical stress. This surface is very easy to scratch.

Tip. In the interior decoration of the elevator car, it is best to use plastic that has a matte surface.

  • This is due to the fact that this type of surface can be cleaned with rough abrasive products. It is also worth considering that in the case of writing on such a surface with a marker or paint using aggressive means (solvents and alcohol), such a defect can be easily eliminated.
  • Due to the fact that the price of such material is quite low, it has become very popular in finishing work.

Siding in the decoration of elevator cabs

Siding in any finishing work has been used for many years. It has excellent properties and characteristics.
For decoration of elevators, it is used in panels that have a very simple installation.
Is he:

  • Very durable, as it is able to withstand large physical and mechanical stresses.
  • Practical, as it does not lose its appearance after frequent cleansing.
  • Moisture-resistant, as its structure does not deform under the influence of moisture.
  • Durable - siding trim can last a very long period of time (at least 10 years).
  • It characterizes itself as a material, which in any of its execution has a very easy and simple installation.
  • Wear-resistant, since its surface is covered with a protective layer and it does not allow it to wear out. In this case, the material does not lose its appearance.
  • Able to withstand both high and low temperature conditions.

Installation of siding and plastic

Siding installation
Siding installation

All actions are done by hand. As a rule, elevator cabins are made of metal and have too much weight.
Due to the fact that the siding and plastic are lightweight, they will not create additional load on the structure.
So:

  • Installation begins with the manufacture of a wooden crate on the surface. For this, wooden planks of the same diameter are used.
You can also use a frame made of metal profiles, since in the event moisture gets under the surface of the finish, the tree may begin to deform.

Tip.
When finishing the elevator, one should give preference only to the metal frame from special profiles. It will be more reliable and more durable than wood, and over time, if the finish is replaced, it will serve as the basis for another finishing material.

To install the battens you will need:

  • Dowels and screws for wood or metal (the choice depends on the type of crate).
  • Rotary hammer and screwdriver (can be replaced with a drill).
  • Building level for a flat surface finish.
  • A stationery knife, a hacksaw for metal or a jigsaw (you can use a regular saw instead of the latter).
  • Tape measure and pencil.
  • Sealant for processing joints of material. This will give strength and reliability to the entire finish.

Stages:

  • Then the material itself is mounted on the finished crate. Since the size of the finish is not too large, the work will go very quickly.
  • Siding or plastic is mounted on the crate using a construction stapler - the first strip in the case of a wooden crate is fixed in this way, or self-tapping screws with decorative hats.

Since both the material has special locks at the end of its panels, it will be very easy to fasten the material. On the top of the plastic trim or siding, you can put a decorative ceiling skirting, and at the bottom - floor.

Decorative metal panels for elevators

Luxury design

This type of material in the interior decoration of the elevator is most common.
It is made of aluminum or sheet metal. Of course, aluminum decorative panels have a lot of advantages.
They are:

  • Durable and reliable.
  • Do not deform under moderate physical and mechanical stress.
  • Moisture resistant and practical.
  • Their surface is protected by a coating layer - a polymer, which makes it possible to use the material for a very long period of time with the correct operation of the finish.
  • But, as a rule, their surface is only glossy and if mishandled, it is very easily scratched.
  • The main advantage of this type of panel will be that, unlike metal panels, they do not corrode and do not rot.

Metal decorative panels are also practical and durable. Their surface may simply be painted or coated with a layer of polymer powder.

Installation of decorative metal panels

All actions are performed in the same way as in fixing plastic on the surface. It will also be necessary to make a crate and on it already using metal screws, panels will be mounted.

Tip. When choosing such a material, it is best to make the crate also metal. It will securely fix the material to the surface.

Drapery of the walls of the elevator car

Fabric elevator example

What is this kind of finish?
This is a finish on all surfaces of the elevator cabin with fabric. It is used only in luxury elevators.
For her are used:

  • Velours.
  • Leather.
  • Drap and other paintings.

Tip. Since the fabric is capable of absorbing moisture and various kinds of contamination can be seen on its surface, it is necessary to use the fabric finishes very carefully.

Features:

  • She does not tolerate wet cleaning. It is necessary to clean the surface of the fabric only with a dry cloth or using a conventional vacuum cleaner with a small capacity.

Leather:

  • The most refined and non-standard is the leather trim of the walls of the elevator car. This design looks not just original.
  • At the moment, leatherette, which has a wide variety of shades, is used for such work. Also on its surface can be seen embossing of various types, which will give the decoration a highlight.
  • For such a surface there is a certain instruction, according to which all actions are performed.
  • Initially, special fasteners must be installed on the surface. They can be purchased at the store (they are made special for drapery walls) or made independently from wooden planks of small diameter.
  • Fasteners can be installed using dowels and a punch. They will be able to securely fix the bar on the surface and withstand heavy loads that will appear as a result of stretching the canvas.
  • Wall decoration leather can be made prepared for such work material or canvas can be purchased. It all depends on what design is required.
Of course, the independent selection of the canvas, its preparation and the manufacture of fasteners will be the cheapest.
  • Wooden planks are installed at the top and bottom of the elevator room. A cloth is stretched over them using a special bent spatula.
It is best to start such actions from above and gradually moves to the side and sinking down. Thus, uniform stretching of the tissue on the surface is obtained.
The video shows an example of drapery walls with leather.

Similar actions are performed with other types of textile fabric. Wall drapery can be used only in those rooms where there is no high humidity of unpleasant odors, since the fabric is able to take on this kind of impact.
