What is polyester putty?
Polyester putty is a finishing agent made on the basis of polyester substances. The product belongs to two-component, consisting of the main mass and filler. Putty is a plastic agent that is used with a hardener. The product itself has a white tint, and the hardener is red.
Material Composition
The main active ingredient of the product is polyester components. To improve the properties of putty, additional ingredients are added to the material - aluminum powder, glass micro-granules or fiberglass.

Putty classification by purpose:
• Universal material. Such a tool consists of two components. There is no silicone and asbestos. Product advantage - it hardens quickly after application. The material is recommended for concrete, wood, polyester and metal. The composition masks small imperfections and gives a small degree of shrinkage. The tool is characterized by increased strength and ease of use.
• Fiberglass agent. The product is made on the basis of fiberglass. The material is recommended for use for leveling the surface, sealing small defects, through holes, deep cracks and metal restoration after corrosion. The composition has increased strength and resistance to mechanical damage.
• Facing agent. It is a fine-grained composition. The product is recommended for use in porous building substrates, for sealing small defects and for correcting small surface irregularities. The tool is used immediately before finishing. The composition is easy to apply and dries quickly.
By fraction size
Classification of material by size of fractions:
• Crude means. These are heavy formulations that are designed to fill large defects and level the surface. The tool also increases the strength of the building base. The product contains coarse fractions that make the surface rough, so the material is used as a starting material. This putty is not suitable for decoration.
• Finishing agents. They are fine-grained compositions. The material is applied to coarse putty before finishing. The product finally levels the base, preparing the surface for painting, tiling or wallpapering.

For concrete and wood
Instructions for preparing products for concrete and wooden surfaces:
• mix the product thoroughly;
• mix the composition with the reagent in the proportions - per 1 kg of the product 20 g of organic peroxide;
• leave the product for infusion for a day at a temperature of +18 - + 250 C;
• stir the product.
Such a solution is not yet ready for use. This is the basis for further preparation of the composition.
For metal
Putty does not need special preparation, if used for metal.
Cooking Tools
Combine the base and hardener (as in the photo below) in the proportions indicated on the package. Note that the solution should be enough for 10 minutes of work. After this, the tool will harden. Stir the composition until the red hue of the hardener disappears. Prepare the product immediately before use.
You can not add more hardener than specified in the instructions. This will not accelerate the drying of the composition, but will lead to the fact that the catalyst does not completely dissolve in the composition. As a result, the substance will come into contact with the coloring pigment and spots will appear on the surface that will ruin the aesthetics of the finish.
Do not add hardener less than expected. This will slow down the drying of the composition or the product will not harden at all. Because of this, the surface cannot be cleaned. The mass is crumpled and defects appear.
Application of the composition
Algorithm for the use of putty based on polyester substances:
Prepare the surface. Remove the old coating, degrease the base and remove dust. After this, apply the primer in two layers with a break for drying.
Apply coarse putty to the surface. Work fast, because after 10 minutes the composition will harden.
After setting, clean the surface. Use sandpaper P 80, P 100 or P 120 for this.
Clean the surface of dust. Next, treat the base with a primer in two layers.
Apply a finishing coat in a thin layer. Thickness - 0.1 mm.
Wait for the product to dry and grind the surface again. This time use P 240 sandpaper.
Clean the material and prime the surface. Finish.
