The use of environmentally friendly materials for housing construction is in the first place. Therefore, the use of wood in low-rise housing construction is increasingly attracting developers.
And in this regard, the decoration of a wooden house inside with a clapboard made of natural wood is quite natural.

Lining for interior decoration

The term “lining” came to construction from the railway industry. Previously, freight cars were lined with boards and, so that there were no cracks in the joints, spikes and grooves were made along the edges of the boards.
Such a connection began to be used in the decoration of external walls and internal premises in construction.
Wooden lining has found wide application due to its characteristics:

  • Natural material safe for health.
  • Ease of installation.
  • Long service life.
  • Resistant to decay and mold after special processing.
  • Good heat and sound insulation.
  • The variety of textures of various species of wood.
  • The ability to hide all communications under the panels.
  • Beautiful view of a natural tree.

For the manufacture of lining, both deciduous and coniferous trees are used:

  • Pine;
  • spruce;
  • ash;
  • oak;
  • Linden;
  • alder;
  • canadian cedar;
  • Siberian larch;

Pine

The most common is lining from pine. Pine lining is mainly used for interior decoration premises.
It has a fairly high strength and relatively low weight, easy to process. The presence of a large number of resins determines its natural durability.

So:

  • Lining from pine has a pleasant golden color and a healing coniferous aroma. Breathing pine aroma is very beneficial for the human respiratory tract as it is a natural antiseptic.
  • The lining of spruce has the same characteristics. But at spruce lining drops of tar are periodically allocated. This reduces its value.
  • It is also worth noting that pine lining has the lowest cost.

The only limitation is that it is not recommended to use a softwood panel for interior decoration of saunas and bathssince high temperature promotes the release of resin. As a result, the walls become sticky.

Ash

Ash lining is a beautiful and noble finishing material. It is distinguished by high mechanical strength and elasticity.
When tested for strength, it turned out that the ash board is stronger than the oak board:

  • By the beauty of the structure, ash is equated to red or ebony.
  • Ash wood has a rich range of shades - ranging from pale pink to dark brown.
  • Ash has distinct annual rings. They give the wood texture extraordinary, interesting patterns.

  • Finishing the internal walls with ash lining can help to improve health, since the healing properties of this tree have long been known.
  • It is worth noting that ordinary wood is a good heat-insulating material. So in ash this figure is 30% higher.

Ash is not a rare tree, and therefore the cost of products made from it is relatively low.

Oak

Lining from an oak is a finishing material of a class of elite.For the manufacture of oak lining, only high-quality wood is used.

Lining from oak has the following qualities:

  • Aesthetic appeal. Oak lining is distinguished by a noble appearance.
    And although it is one of the most expensive finishing materials, demand for it remains constantly stable.
  • Durability. Oak lining has unique characteristics of wear resistance and moisture resistance.
    This lining is not affected by moldy fungi. Such a finish will delight the owners with its beautiful view for decades.
  • Originality. Oak lining is made to order, and therefore each type of product is exclusive.

Canadian cedar

The Canadian cedar, or as it is also called the giant thuja, is a tree with unique antiseptic abilities and at the same time is an excellent heat preserver.
Lining from the Canadian cedar has such unique qualities:

  • Not affected by fungal mold and various pests.
  • It tolerates significant temperature changes.

  • The presence of essential oils in the wood has a beneficial effect on the human cardiovascular and respiratory systems.
  • The aroma of needles, which such a lining emits, relieves stress and fatigue, calms the nervous system.
  • Clapboard from this wood finish the most respectable premises.

An alder is a tree that has such unique qualities:

  • Unique texture.
  • Unique colors: chocolate with marble streaks, light coffee color. Such colors give the finishing coat originality and noble sophistication.
  • One of the main advantages of black alder is its resistance to moisture. This allows the use of alder lining for bath decoration, saunas and other rooms in which humidity is increased.
  • The dark color of the alder lining perfectly combines with the lighter tones of the aspen or linden lining, allowing you to create unusual compositions.
  • Alder wood is very soft and well processed. It is hygroscopic, does not warp and does not darken over time.
  • Alder has a low specific gravity, and, consequently, easier installation.

Siberian Larch

The quality of the lining directly depends on the quality of the source wood. Therefore, it is safe to say about lining from Siberian larch that this is a unique finishing material.

So:

  • By strength, larch is almost not inferior to oak. It is not affected by mold and rot.
    Therefore, larch products are very durable. By the way, it must be said that the Italian city of Venice stands on stilts of Siberian larch.
  • Lining from larch perfectly tolerates significant temperature fluctuations and does not crack or warp.

If you add here the quite democratic cost of larch lining, you will get a wonderful finishing material of elite quality.

Lining

  • The linden lining has been widely used due to its properties. One of these characteristics is the rather low cost of this finishing product.
  • In addition, linden lining is a pure natural material.
  • Lining from linden is used for interior decoration in wooden houses of various rooms: rooms, corridors, balconies, verandas. But this lining is especially popular when decorating baths and saunas.

This popularity is promoted by the property of linden to maintain its texture, shape and color in conditions of 100% humidity and high temperature.

  • due to their strength linden products have a long service life;

General classification of lining

Wood for the manufacture of lining is divided into 4 grades:

  • Grade "Extra" - does not allow the presence of knots and mechanical damage, as well as core fragments.
  • Grade “A” - does not allow fragments of the core, but such assumptions are possible: one knot per 1.5 m in length, not more than two non-through cracks and not more than two resin pockets.
  • Grade “B” - allows such defects: not more than 4 knots per 1.5 m of board length, knot size not more than 20 mm, not more than two non-penetrating cracks and not more than two resin pockets; a contrast stain with an area of not more than 15 cm², surface defects up to 3 mm are possible.
  • Grade “C” - allows such defects: not more than two captive knots, not through cracks, the total length of which does not exceed 5% of the product length, also not more than two resin bags with a total area of not more than 250 mm² and mechanical damage up to 6 mm.
